SOUTHERN CRESCENT YOUTH ORCHESTRA

The Southern Crescent Youth Orchestras is designed to offer a high-quality performance and learning experience for area string players with at least two years of experience. An audition is required for membership.

Audition Information for the 2024/2025 Season:


Date: Thursday, August 29th –  6:00 – 8:30

Location: Union Grove Middle School


Requirements:

Solo or etude of the student’s choice,

Sight reading

Scales (violin: 3 octave G and A major, viola and cello: 3 octave C and D major, bass: 1 octave F and G major)

Rehearsals: 

Thursday evenings from 6:30 – 8:00 at Union Grove Middle School


Concerts: 

December and April in Spivey Hall - exact dates to be posted soon


Tuition:  

$100 per year. Scholarships are available based on financial need.

About the Conductor

Kathy Saucier is one of the foremost music educators in the state. She taught middle and high school orchestra for 31 years in the Clayton and Henry County Schools. She is a Henry County Teacher of the Year and a recipient of the GMEA Exemplary Program Award. Groups under her direction consistently received superior ratings at the GMEA Orchestra Performance Evaluation and her ensembles have been invited to perform at the GMEA annual In-Service Conference on several occasions. She is a faculty member of the Encore Music Camp and is constantly in demand as an adjudicator, clinician and private teacher.
